The YPLA has today ( 21st February 2012) launched the specification and PQQ for delivery of Youth Contract Support for 16 and 17 year olds across England.
The Youth Contract has three key objectives: • Objective 1 – This is the main objective of the programme – to support 16-17 year olds who are not in education, employment or training and at risk of long-term disengagement to move into education, training or employment with training and to sustain this outcome. • Objective 2 – To increase these young people’s experience and qualifications so that they have the opportunity to continue in education and successfully find work, reducing the proportion who become unemployed in adult life. • Objective 3 – To test methods of local delivery and payment by results, increasing the effectiveness of these models and developing best practice.
The contracts are worth a total of £126 million across 12 lots covering England, with a separate £24 million provided to the devolved authorities in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to put in place their own support.
The deadline for submission of PQQ’s for this opportunity is 5pm on the 5th March, just two weeks from publication of the PQQ and specification.
